The Senior Property Accountant will manage full-cycle day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties. Seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented accountant with a strong background in property management accounting.
Responsible for full monthly accounting cycle including preparation of monthly closing journal entries, income statement, balance sheet, variance analysis and other financial reporting analysis.
Review bank reconciliations, HST returns, payable batches, receivable batches and chargeback invoices.
Maintenance and updating of data on accounting system, including building, unit, tenant, vendor, and budget data.
Ensure accuracy of tenant?s ledger and the timely resolution of receivable or billing differences.
Assist Property Management and other departments and provide accurate/timely accounting information as requested.
Liaise with property accountants or other counterparts in respect of various accounting, reporting, and property management activities.
Deal with tenant and vendor enquiries.
Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages.
Prepare year-end tenant operating and realty tax reconciliations.
Prepare annual budgeting for the revenue-generating properties.
Supervision of junior accounting staff.
Other projects as required.
CPA qualification, or enrollment in the program, or equivalent accounting qualification.
Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word and accounting software packages; Yardi experience a plus.
Minimum 3 years? experience in property management accounting.
Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
Good analytical skills, attention to detail, and capable of self-management and prioritization to ensure deadlines are met.
