Job Description

Join our team as a Mechanical Design Engineer and work under the supervision of a lifting equipment specialist engineer. Your main tasks will involve designing, sizing, and optimizing custom lifting systems such as overhead cranes, lifting beams, winches, gantry cranes, etc. These equipment are mainly intended for projects in the hydroelectric sector.

Responsibilities

  • Design custom lifting equipment according to specifications
  • Create 3D models of custom lifting equipment using SolidWorks
  • Produce calculation files using Mathcad
  • Optimize lifting equipment structures using SAFI structural engineering software
  • Analyze technical quotes from clients and propose modifications
  • Supervise mechanical drawing subcontracting
  • Participate in design reviews
  • Integrate electrical components into mechanical systems
  • Provide technical support during equipment manufacturing
  • Write assembly, commissioning, and load testing procedures
  • Provide mechanical support during on-site start-ups
  • Contribute to the development of internal mechanical standards

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Member of the Quebec Order of Engineers (OIQ)
  • 2-3 years of experience in mechanical design, ideally in lifting or handling equipment
  • Proficiency in CAD and calculation tools: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mathcad
  • Autonomy, attention to detail, analytical skills, and good team spirit
  • Functional level of English
