The Senior Accounting Manager oversees financial operations, reporting, policies, processes, internal controls, and accounting. This role involves team development and collaboration with finance team members to meet strategic objectives and deliver process and system improvements. Reporting to the CFO, this is a controller-level role.
Prepare and review financial statements and management reports, manage audit processes, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and recommend improvements to financial policies and systems. Oversee daily accounting operations such as accounts payable/receivable, general ledger maintenance, payroll, and cost allocations. Manage accounts receivable functions including invoicing, payment processing, and collections. Oversee and drive financial system change initiatives within the finance department to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of accounting processes and reporting systems. Supervise, coach, and direct finance staff to ensure that they are appropriately motivated and developed and able to carry out their responsibilities to the required standard. Assist with financial reporting for committees and board meetings, provide backup support during absences, conduct ad hoc financial analysis, and manage the financial ERP system.
Bachelor’s Degree and CPA Designation required. Over ten years of finance/accounting experience, ideally within a similar organization. Experience with Not-for-Profit Accounting standards and regulatory accounting. Background/experience in public accounting. Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills. Proficiency with financial systems, advanced Excel skills, and data modeling. Management skills to mentor and direct staff.
