Job Description

Join our client, a luxury hotel and restaurant organization in Montreal and Ottawa, as a Senior Payroll Technician. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing while supporting benefits, legal obligations, and collective agreements.

Responsibilities

1. Process bi-weekly payroll: preparation, input, verification, validation, and production.

2. Conduct quality checks and identify discrepancies, collaborating with the payroll manager for necessary corrections.

3. Assist in year-end activities (T4, releve 1, fiscal year opening).

4. Manage administrative payroll records: vacations, leaves, retirement savings, group insurance, salary deductions, work permits, etc.

5. Create and update employee records in physical files and HRIS.

6. Assist in processing group insurance and retirement savings plans; issue ROEs.

7. Collaborate on CNESST files (compensation calculations, follow-up).

8. Ensure payroll practices compliance with tax laws, government standards, and collective agreements.

9. Provide first-level support to managers and employees regarding payroll and benefits.

10. Assist in audit report production and payroll data analysis.

11. Act as a resource for payroll technicians and collaborate with the payroll manager in process improvement.

Qualifications

1. Minimum 5 years of full-cycle payroll processing experience.

2. College or technical diploma in a relevant field (an asset).

3. Knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce, Workday, ADP, or similar payroll software (an asset).

4. Familiarity with unionized payrolls (an asset).

5. Excellent communication skills in French and English, both verbal and written.

6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

7. Customer service-oriented.

8. Strong organizational skills, autonomy, attention to detail.
