Ensure compliance of import/export processes with North American customs agencies' requirements.
Review commercial and customs documentation, including tariff classification (HTS), product origin, customs valuation, and maintenance of regulatory records.
Develop and maintain internal compliance procedures for managing certificates of origin, ATA carnets, TIB, and other customs programs.
Collaborate with internal teams (logistics, procurement, engineering, finance, etc.) to integrate customs requirements into business processes.
Provide training and ongoing support to internal stakeholders on regulatory standards and best customs practices.
Verify accuracy of origin declarations and documents related to free trade agreements.
Participate in updating product data in the ERP to correctly reflect tariff codes and origin for each item.
Ensure documentary compliance of certificates under trade agreements such as ACEUM/USMCA/T-MEC.
The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of extensive experience in customs brokerage and customs compliance in Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
Strong understanding of key principles of international trade: tariff classification (HTS), merchandise valuation, export controls, trade sanctions, tariff preference programs.
Demonstrated experience in managing customs compliance (import/export), ideally in a manufacturing context.
Knowledge of product nomenclatures and BOMs (Bill of Materials) to support tariff classification and customs valuation.
Proficiency in North American trade agreements (CUSMA/USMCA/T-MEC), certificate of origin (COO), and implications of the Buy American Act (BAA).
Ability to interpret complex regulations, analyze commercial data, and make informed decisions.
Strong attention to detail in document verification, process analysis, and regulatory compliance management.
Experience with FDA customs clearance (United States) for technical or industrial products (e.g., lighting devices or similar).
Proven skills in auditing, problem-solving, compliance process development, and project management.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to simplify compliance issues.
Bilingualism in English/French considered an asset for daily written and verbal exchanges.
CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) or CTCS (Certified Trade Compliance Specialist) certification considered an asset.
Willingness to travel as needed for the position.
